About us

We are a lively small-town church outside of Edinburgh [map here] . If you are an Episcopalian from Scotland or the United States, a member of the Church of England, a Canadian, Australian or Jamaican Anglican (and the list goes on) and you are visiting Penicuik or have moved here then we are your local congregation! If you are none of these but would like to visit or become a worshipping member in this little corner in God's Kingdom then you’re starting at the right place.

We are a mixed age congregation - we praise God in a variety of ways. Our principal service of Holy Communion on a Sunday morning is an act of worship which unites us with Christians around the world. We have a Sunday School every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month – our Family Service – where we spend the entire time together in the church. Our clergy team brings a wealth of experience and talent to the ministry of St James Church. Our church members are involved as volunteers in local organizations and a variety of trusts and charities. We are active and well planted.
