A little about us...
St. Leonard’s, Lasswade is to be found on the border between Lasswade and Bonnyrigg. The members of St. Leonard’s run a number of different activities each month including Sunday School, house bound, healing, outreach and Mothers’ Union. We enjoy good relations with our neighbours in other denominations locally. We have a varied congregation gathered from near and far, where all are welcome, young and old together and everything between. Our purpose here is to love and serve God and our neighbour.
St. Leonard is the patron Saint of Prisoners and we take a special interest in the needs of prisoners, in a local prison and prisoners of conscience abroad.
The church here began as a Mission in 1888 with services held in Bonnyrigg Public Hall. In 1889 Sir Robert Dundas gifted land for a church to be built and dedicated to St. Leonard. The Church itself was consecrated in 1890. The original building, designed by Hippolyte Blanc, was added to in 1895 with a Chancel, Sanctuary and Vestry.
We also share our Rector with St. Mary’s, Dalkeith.
