How to find us Turn off the A1 on the A1107. After the roundabout take the second turning on the right into Victoria Road; then first left ( Coldingham Road) and 2nd right (Upper Houndlaw – signposted to St Ebba’s). Turn left at the end of Upper Houndlaw into Paxton Terrace.
A little about us St Ebba was a Saxon princess of the Northumbrian royal dynasty, born about 614, but she chose the monastic life rather than a royal marriage and became Abbess of Coldingham where she became a respected advisor and spiritual guide to kings and bishops and welcomed St Cuthbert as a guest. Episcopal worship in Eyemouth continued after the Reformation in Scotland until 1689 when the Rev J Stirling was deposed for refusing to pray for William and Mary. In 1885 the Rector of Duns started a mission in Eyemouth. The first part of St Ebba’s church building, the chancel, was dedicated on St Ebba’s day, 25August, 1887. The completed building was consecrated in 1901. The Church has stained glass windows dating from the early 20th century and one made by Joanne Scott of Coldingham in 1989. The font cover, a pair of doves, was sculpted by David Annand in 1992. The Church stands on the hill looking out over the harbour of Eyemouth to the North Sea. The Church Hall was built in 1934 and the congregation enjoy coffee and a chat there after the services.
