- How to find us:
- You can find St. Peter's very near to the junction of Lutton Place and South Clerk Street in Newington, not far from the Commonwealth Pool, and there is a regular bus service from the city centre.
A little about us.. St. Peter's is a lively church community, set in the heart of Newington on the south side of the city. Our building is conspicuous on the skyline of Edinburgh. It has a colourful Victorian interior, a fine organ and a choir of adults and children. We value the part played by families in our church community, and there are opportunities for children to discover music and play a part in our services. On Sundays, we welcome all comers to breakfast after our 8.30am service; to coffee after our 10.45am service; and to monthly bring-and-share lunches. We offer a particularly warm welcome to both students and families at St. Peter's. Our Assistant Curate, Frances Burberry, is Honorary Anglican Chaplain to Edinburgh University, and students and young adults are drawn to St Peter's from nearby Pollock Halls of Residence and beyond. St Peter’s is recognised as a Fair Trade congregation – with regular stalls for Fair Trade goods – and is actively engaged in the Eco-Congregation Award process, which is designed to enthuse and equip church congregations to weave environmental issues into their life and mission. Lots of people take part in our Sunday and weekday activities which include our Mother and Toddler Groups, Children’s Singing Club, One World Group and Prayer Groups.
