Journey of the Baptised
The Province is reviewing The Journey of the Baptised mission report of 2003 and as such we are need to establish how successful the Mission 21 resources have been - namely the Foundation Phase Making Your Church More Inviting (MYCMI); Size Transition and Continuing Congregational Development (CCD) and Stewardship.
In order to facilitate this review Dean Fostekew would like to ask you to answer the questions on the questionnaire (attached in email to incumbents). Your replies are not expected to be lengthy.

Old St Paul’s Children’s Worker
Old Saint Paul's is looking for a person with vision and enthusiasm for working with children: duties include planning, organising and managing our Sunday School and Creche. The post is for 45 weeks per year, £3600 per annum.

GRANTON WATERFRONT CHURCHES CENTRE.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CO-ORDINATOR (16 hours)  SALARY £22,750  (pro rata)
Eight (8) Christian denominations are co-operating in an Ecumenical venture within this exciting new development in the Granton Waterfront. Through the generosity of the Churches the GWCC has now secured premises and is seeking to appoint a Community Development Co-ordinator initially on a part time basis (16hours per week) at a salary of £22,750 per annum, pro rata. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic person to work with the local Churches and Community to respond to the needs and aspirations of the residents of this new development.
A qualification in a relevant field is desirable although applicants who are in sympathy with the work of the Christian churches and have such experience will be considered. This post requires an enhanced disclosure check.

Christian Aid Cut the Carbon March
Volunteer Stewards and Shoelace sellers needed!
Christian Aid’s Cut the Carbon March arrives in Edinburgh on 21 July and stewards are urgently needed to help with the smooth running of the rally. If you are able to offer your time on Saturday 21 July, between 2pm and 7pm, and to attend an evening briefing session earlier in the same week, then Christian Aid would be very glad to hear from you.

Santiago de Compostela Celebration in Edinburgh
All pilgrims and friends are invited to mark the Feast of St James - 25 July - with a sung Eucharist with Spanish and English music at 7.30pm in Christ Church (Holy Corner), Morningside Road, Edinburgh.  The service will be led by veteran pilgrims Rev Michael Paterson and Rev Dr Jane Leach.  In true pilgrim style there will be a scratch choir to lead the singing of pilgrim songs old and new.  If you would like to join in song then come along to the rehearsal in Church at 6.30pm.  After the service Jane Leach will launch her new book 'Walking the Story: In the steps of Saints and Pilgrims' over wine and tapas in the Church Hall.  No charge will be made for the evening but a collection will be taken towards the pilgrim refuge at Miraz.  All welcome.  If you are planning to come, or would like more details, please contact Michael Paterson on 0131 228 2931, curate@6a.org.uk

Spiritual Accompaniment Course for Clergy
Please see leaflet [download here] about a course for priests and ministers who wish to explore aspects of spiritual accompaniment. This ecumenical course will offer clergy an opportunity to reflect on the ministry of accompaniment. They will practice the art of listening with discernment in order to help people discover God's presence and leading in their lives. There will also be the opportunity to share with peers about the different ways in which accompaniment takes place in ministry.

The Revd Paul Keown was instituted as Rector of Holy Trinity Haddington on 20 June.  He was formerly Priest in Charge of St Nicholas-on-the-Hill Swansea.

Lent Appeal

Faith in Dialogue with Conflict  - 10 June
Christ Church Morningside has launched a new series 'Faith in Dialogue' in which invited speakers are asked to address a topic of contemporary interest firstly within the context of the 10am Eucharist sermon slot and then afterwards over coffee and discussion in the Church Centre.
On 10 June Nancy Adams, will speak on Faith in Dialogue with Conflict  in Israel/ Palestine.
“2007 marks 40 years of Israel’s occupation of PalestinianTerritory. Christian communities around the world have prayed patiently and sought a just and sustainable resolution to this conflict. Yet the oppression and violence continues. The World Council of Churches and the Palestinian Christian Community are calling on member churches and organizations to renew their prayers and to work together for a just, sustainable peace and security for all people affected.”
Formerly a lecturer in International Relations, a Political Economist to the Saudi Arabian Economic Research Unit and a Political Analyst for a Middle Eastern research unit, Nancy is convener of both the Church in Society Committee of the Scottish Episcopal Church and its Justice, Peace and Creation Network.  Last winter she spent three months in Jerusalem studying “The Roles of Women in Promoting Peace and Reconciliation.” Nancy visits ChristChurch as part of the World Council of Churches initiative: International Church Action for Peace in Palestine and Israel (ICAPPI).

 Christ Church Morningside has launched a new series 'Faith in Dialogue' in which invited speakers are asked to address a topic of contemporary interest firstly within the context of the 10am Eucharist sermon slot and then afterwards over coffee and discussion in the Church Centre.
On 10 June Nancy Adams, will speak on Faith in Dialogue with Conflict  in Israel/ Palestine.

Thanksgiving Service at St Hilda's Edinburgh
On Sunday 27 May there will be a thanksgiving service at St Hilda's Oxgangs at 6pm.  The congregation of St Hilda's, having reduced in size in recent years, has decided that it can no longer maintain worship in the building and members intend to go to other local congregations.  The church will cease to be used for public worship after this service.   We shall remember in our prayers with thanksgiving all who have worked, witnessed and served the community at Oxgangs over the years.  Please remember Martin Robson and the congregation in your prayers at this time.
