Area Councils

The Diocese of Edinburgh is divided into seven Area Councils. Membership of the Area Councils comprises clergy and laity from members congregations. The main tasks of the Area Councils are:
1. To be the channel of communication between the congregations and the Diocesan Synod and between the Synod and the Congregations.
2. To nominate for election one clerical representative and one lay representative to serve on the General Synod.
3. To allocate to congregations in their area the quota to be contributed to Diocesan and Provincial funds.
